Water Flow Low

The purpose of this article is to guide you step by step through the most common causes of low water flow

Disclaimer: This procedure is for troubleshooting only. The Laser should not be used with the Jumper on the Control Board. LaserStar is not responsible for any damage caused if you choose to use the Laser with the Jumper on J34.

Check the system’s water flow to confirm the pump is working.

  • Laser 220VAC or Three-phase:
    1. For 220VAC or Three-phase lasers, you must check that the correct voltage is reaching the laser.
    2. If the input line has the correct voltage, check the fuses on the back of the laser. Do not visually inspect the fuse; use a voltmeter to test for continuity across it. See the article How to test Fuses with a Digital Voltmeter
  • Machine with By-Pass Valve (G1, G2 Pedestal Series, 2000 Series):
    1. At the top of the water bottle, follow the hose to the By-Pass valve, with the hose returning to the water bottle
    2. Turn the valve and verify that there is water flow into the bottle
    3. Make sure no hose is kinked
    4. Disconnect the Top and Bottom hose Press & Pull and reconnect them until you hear a "Click"

  • Without By-Pass Valve:
    1. Press and hold the Rear Cooling Hose on the Flash Lamp Chamber for 10 seconds, then check for air bubbles.
    2. Repeat the procedure until no air remains in the water line.
    3. On the Laser G4 and G5, if air still exists in the line, make sure the Front and Rear Cooling Hose are properly adjusted.
    4. Check that the connections on the water container are properly tightened to prevent air from entering.

If no more air bubbles remain in the water line and the problem persists, locate the pins labeled J34 on the Control Board. A purple wire will be connected in that position.

                                             Control Board G1, G2 and G3

                                              Control Board G4, G5

Take a two-pin jumper from the Troubleshooting Jumpers Kit. This Kit is always close to the Control Board.

Disconnect the cable at J34 from the Control Board and place one Black Jumper Cap on the pins at J34.

Turn ON the laser. Check if the message no longer appears.

    1. The message appears: "Control Board Faulty."
    2. The message does not appear = Flow Valve: Faulty or irregular water flow in
      the System

If your water filter is older than 6 months, replace it.

If your laser is the benchtop version, check that there are no obstructions in the water container outlet.

    1. Drain the water from the system.
    2. Remove the water filter.
    3. Look inside. The interior of the Water Bottle must be clean and
      without any residue.
    4. If you find debris inside, remove the water bottle to clean it.
    5. Use a soft-bristle brush to clean the water bottle's inner screen.

If the Water Pump is noisy, replace the Mag Drive, water, and water filter.
