Installing Soft Touch Resonators
The purpose of this article is to show the step-by-step process for installing Soft Touch Resonators or Ceramic Reflectors
The parts included in the Kit:
-
Two Ceramic Reflectors
- Two Stainless steel spacers
- A stainless steel shim for the top of the reflector

Important: Before removing the lamp and the YAG rod from the lamp chamber, please watch the video "Replacing Gold Reflectors in a Nd: YAG Laser Welding System," which demonstrates how to mark the position of the YAG rod before removal to preserve the laser alignment.
Once the parts to be replaced have been removed from the chamber and the inside of the chamber has been cleaned, place a reflector and the two spacers as shown in the image below. The spacers have only one position; they cannot be placed differently inside the chamber.

Then, place the Yag Rod again, remember that it must be in the same position it was in before removing it from the chamber to preserve the alignment of the Laser. Place the lamp and the flow plate.

Now, place the second ceramic reflector on the top. Make sure the Flow Plate is upright in the slot of both reflectors. Place the Shim above the Reflector. It should have a slight upward curve in the middle so it contacts the plunger.

Ensure that the plunger protrusion on the inner side of the top cover measures 0.020" at its outer circumference. The shim must make contact with the plunger to turn on the lamp.

If you need to adjust the trigger transformer plunger, see the article "How to Adjust the Trigger Transformer Plunger," where you will find the instructions.
